Invisible (Manchester) is currently recruiting a new person to join or wonderful team and provide support to our guides and trainees. The new Guide Support Officer will be responsible for recruiting and managing guides and trainees in Manchester, organise one to one sessions with everyone and build up relationships with the wider Manchester Community.

Guide Support Officer - Job Description & Responsibilities
Invisible Cities is recruiting a Guide Support Officer for Invisible (Manchester), starting from the end of February 2022 (ideal starting date is February 21st which will include a handover period of one week).
Part-time contract : 12 hours per week, including a full day of work on Fridays based in our offices at Manchester Museum. Other hours to be worked from home, flexibly and independently.
Report to Invisible Cities CEO and work closely with Invisible (Manchester) Business Development Manager, based in Manchester
Salary: £20,000 per annum, pro-rata

Invisible (Manchester) is part of Invisible Cities, an award-winning social enterprise that trains people who have been affected by homelessness to become walking tour guides of their own city. We provide opportunities for people to get new skills and development opportunities to grow and thrive in their own city. Our tours are designed by our guides so they can tell their own story, in their own words. We offer walking tours to tourists and locals so they can discover a unique side of our cities while breaking down the stigma that exists around homelessness.
We are currently looking for a stellar member of staff, to provide support to our existing guides and trainees and recruit new trainees to join our Invisible (Manchester) team! The Guide Support officer will be responsible for liaising with trainees/guides and members of the community to help develop new content, support them with their tours and create exciting opportunities to develop their skills.
Roles and responsibilities will include:
Coordinating and managing recruitment sessions for our guides, who have all experienced homelessness
Coordinating and managing the delivery of training programmes, using content and support from the wider Invisible Cities Team
Designing, delivering and supporting group activities, learning sessions and creative workshops
Managing our team of trainees and guides in Manchester
Building a comfortable and inclusive environment to bring the socially isolated together
For example: supporting individuals in editing and publishing their own poetry book, setting up their own fashion social enterprise and sourcing work placement and volunteer opportunities in the tourism and hospitality industry
Create and maintain files for each tour guide and volunteer to monitor their progress and development needs, alongside updating professional development files, documenting training, experience and skills in order to build on employment opportunities/CV/portfolio
Support our guides and trainees being involved in community projects in Manchester, either directly organised by Invisible (Manchester) or by our partners. This would include project management, managing guides’ time and resources, outcomes, and development opportunities or liaising with partners in the city
Manage volunteers who support our guides with the creation and practice of their tours in the city. Checking in with volunteers on a regular basis and management of outcomes.
Other opportunities will include: support with the organisation and attending our annual national get togethers with other Invisible Cities locations.
Travel to Scotland to visit the Invisible Cities team
