As you all know, COVID-19 has had dramatic consequences for Invisible Cities and our award winning guides. With no tours currently running in any of our cities, they have all become at risk financially. However we are determined to support them through this!
Last week, we set-up a fundraising page to enable us to do so. The support we have received to date (from friends, supporters and customers) has been amazing - we have reached over £1,000 so far! So THANK YOU!
We are proud to say that in every city, we have asked what would be most needed in term of support and in Edinburgh have started weekly deliveries of food and household items to our guides and trainees.
We are partnering with local, family-run bakery Il Panino and purchase bread and cakes from them. They have kindly accepted to deliver these goodies as well as our own bags full of fresh fruit and veg to them around the city!
This week, we even included fresh flowers, after local flower Shop Narcissus had to close their doors for the time being and donated lots of bouquets and bulbs to us.
Our Invisible (Edinburgh) team says:
"Our guides remain our first priority and knowing we are able to support them with fresh fruit and vegetables through these uncertain times is amazing. We know how important it is to support local businesses too so being able to do so by buying fresh goods from a family run bakery is even more special. Working with Il Panino has made the logistics of reaching our guides through the lock-down very easy. They took care of the delivery and we can focus on staying in touch with all of them!"
In other cities, support might look a bit different- with deliveries of items to keep everyone busy or positive, or again with access to food and household items. Stay tuned for more updates on this soon.
