As the city prepares to welcome the world for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, a wider festival will unfold alongside it to bring together culture, sport and communities from across the city and we are proud to be part of this moment. Invisible Cities Glasgow has been awarded funding through the Glasgow 2026 Festival Fund, delivered by Glasgow Life, to create and deliver a new series of walking tours during the festival period: Glasgow: Stories Of Connection And Change

A city shaped by movement
Glasgow has always been a city shaped by movement of people, goods, ideas, and of stories. From its early days as a trading city to the diverse communities that call it home today, Glasgow has been connected to places across the world, including many countries that are now part of the Commonwealth. These connections have not always been simple. They include stories of growth and exchange, but also inequality, migration and change. And this is what our tours will explore!
“Glasgow has always been a city that brings people together – through sport, through culture, through the simple act of walking the same streets.
What makes these tours special isn’t that they’re free. It’s that they’re built by our guides, who know this city in a way no guidebook ever could. They don’t just show you Glasgow. They show you the Glasgow that’s been here all along and has wonderful stories to show everyone.”
– Zakia Moulaoui Guery, Founder & CEO, Invisible Cities
Walking together
Our tours are an invitation to slow down, walk together, and see the city through a different lens. Starting in the heart of Glasgow and moving through its streets, we will explore places that hold layers of history, some visible, others often overlooked. But more importantly, we will create space for conversation. Because walking together is not just about moving through the city.
It is about gathering. Glasgow has long been a place where people come together through sport, culture, and everyday life. From international events to local festivals, from busy streets to quiet green spaces, the city continues to create opportunities for people to meet, share and connect. And these tours build on that spirit.

A city to celebrate
This is also a moment of celebration. During the Glasgow 2026 Festival, the city will be full of energy, welcoming visitors from across the world, celebrating sport, culture and community. And Glasgow has a lot to celebrate. Its diversity, its creativity, its resilience. Today, Glasgow is a city where many cultures, languages and traditions exist side by side. A city that continues to evolve, shaped by the people who live here. These tours are part of that celebration.
Created by our guides
This project is developed by our team of guides, who researched, shared ideas and built the stories behind the tours. For them, this is also a journey of an opportunity to develop new skills, explore new topics, and create something meaningful for the city. As always at Invisible Cities, the tours will combine local history with personal insight, offering perspectives you might not hear elsewhere.
